Waterfront Lifeguard (In-Cabin)

This position is responsible for the safety of all campers and staff during lake or pool activities. The lifeguard can expect to spend 4 activity periods everyday guarding and helping with the general upkeep of our aquatic facilities. Holding a lifeguard certification from an accredited organization is a prerequisite.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a lifeguard certificate from a nationally reconized and accredited organization. The most common certification process can be done through the American Red Cross. Contact your local chapter for more information on courses and the certification process.
  • Able to respond to stressful situations in a cool, calm manner.
  • Able to work outside, sometimes in intense sunlight and heat for long periods of time.
  • Prior experience working as a lifeguard is reccommended.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility is guarding the pool/lake/creek during aquatic activities under the direction and supervison of the Waterfront Department Head.
  • Guard the aquatic activity in an alert, active manner without being distracted by co-workers or other factors. The safety of our campers and staff is the primary concern of the lifeguard, and they must be able to diffuse or halt any potentially dangerous situation in a professional manner.
  • Under the direction of the Waterfront Department Head help with the upkeep and maintenance of our aquatic facilities, including but not limited to scrubbing and vacuuming the pool, takedown, cleaning, and storage of watercraft and watercraft equipment, as well as monitoring and maintaining the appropriate chemical levels in the pool.
